Lane Identity
Use your first two spells to secure trades, protect important creeps, and make the enemy lane choose between farm and health.
Lina is a flexible damage hero who can play tempo mid or scaling right-click core. She wins when she combines wave control with disciplined stun setup.

Move when your wave is pushed and your first item timing is ready. The goal is not random fighting; it is turning pressure into map control.
Play around vision and cooldowns. Late fights are won by choosing the right target and preserving enough resources for the second spell cycle.
These four abilities define the hero's lane plan, fight timing, and target priority.

The beauty of Lina is that you can pivot between two builds based on how the lane goes. The trick is knowing when to commit.
Magic Lina (Aether Lens → Aghanim Shard → Kaya) is better when: (1) the enemy has squishy backliners who die to Laguna Blade, (2) your team already has physical damage, or (3) you are against a hero who builds early BKB (in which case magic Lina burns them down before BKB). The power spike hits at 18-22 minutes with Aghanim Shard.
Physical Lina (Maelstrom → Boots of Travel → Daedalus) wins when: (1) the game will go past 35 minutes, (2) the enemy has tanky frontliners who shrug off burst, or (3) you are naturally the primary damage dealer. The transition point: if the enemy carry buys a Pipe or Hood by 20 minutes, start building Maelstrom. Your magic burst will fall off anyway — might as well pivot early.
